Done and gone from Coffeyville, Kansas

We had our exit interview with Amazon on Friday at 10:30am.  We knew there wasn’t much work and they had already given us VTO (voluntary time off) for the rest of the day.  At the exit interview, because we were in the inbound department we learned that we didn’t have to come to work on Saturday.  There was an ice storm coming.  We had taken the window covers off and put everything away.  We had gone to Walmart to pick up a few last minute things and we decided to get on the road then.  We finished up everything and were gone by 2:30pm.  We were sorry to leave friends, we had planned one last dinner out. But I am so glad we did.
They are now stuck in Coffeyville until probably Wednesday.  Because of the ice, the slides are frozen and its going down to 8 degrees tomorrow night.

This is a picture they put on facebook.  Really can’t tell how bad it is.
We made it to Grant, Ok and stopped at Choctaw Casino for the night. We left there with $35 of their money!   We really don’t like driving at night, and it was raining, but we knew we needed to get as far south as we could.  Sunday morning we went over to the casino for breakfast and took off around 9:30.  It rained the whole was to Livingston, sometimes very hard.  But at least we were out of the ice.
We are now in Livingston taking care of doctors appointments.  Since we arrived 2 days earlier than planned our hope is we can leave here 2 days early and head for Arizona.  We will spend a few days in Deming seeing friends and should be in Q by the 16th of January, maybe sooner.
Looking forward to warmer weather!

  2. I'm thrilled you got out of there before that storm hit. Worth the night driving although I hate to do it too.
