Happy Birthday Dr. Suess

Several times I have posted things about Dr. Suess.  Bear with me once again, while I wish this wonderful author a Happy Birthday.  I grew up on his books as well as my children and now my granddaughter.  His books live on.
Savannah Thing I- Dr. Suess Birthday
Once again Savannah is celebrating the life of Dr. Seuss at school by dressing up as Thing 1!
Theodor Seuss Geisel was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on March 2, 1904. In Springfield there is a National Memorial Sculpture Garden in his honor.  Since Ed grew up in Springfield when we are able to get back there to visit friends, this is a place where I like to go.

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose.”
“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.”

From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere.”

“Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.”
“Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So... get on your way.”

“If you never did, you should. These things are fun, and fun is good.”

“I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful, one hundred percent.”

“So the writer who breeds more words than he needs, is making a chore for the reader who reads.

”And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed.”
“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.”

  1. My favourite is "Oh, the Places You'll Go". We used it as a graduation gift several times. Big fan of all of them.

  2. My Mom once gave our daughter some Dr Seuss books and as I read them to her Mom said she thought I enjoyed them more than our daughter did. :)
